Karya Mas Catur Dharma
Setelah sekian lama tertidur dalam lempeng-lempeng Prasasti, akhirnya bangun juga.
Introduction:
The
Kawi script is an ancient, Brahmi-derived script widely used throughout
the Malay archipelango in the 8th to 13th century. It became the
precursor of various indigenous scripts in Indonesia and Phillipines,
sharing the same basic principles and similar shapes.
Shapes of Kawi:
The
letter shapes of Kawi can be ambigious since there is no standard model
for a single "script". Letters vary from one inscription to another,
and text books divide this into an assortment of Kawis; early, mid,
late, transitional, plain, decorative, quadratic, and so on. Prayara is
based on the shapes of late Kawi; fully matured and highly decorative
compared to earlier inscriptions.
